At his altitude the stars glittered sharply and the moon, just over the horizon, loomed large. ![]() He moved his pallet so the bowl of the sky was fully visible and lay on his back looking upward. He thought of it as a wedding trip on which they would demonstrate to each other their individual abilities and their level of cooperativeness. The prospect of an extended trip with Maeve was exciting enough by itself and the idea that they'd be embarked on a mutual project made it more so. "Which I hope we never have to use," he thought. He did have misgivings about traveling between the welcoming spots but was sure they'd be in a secure vehicle equipped with defensive armament. ![]()
